BENTONITE for INDUSTRY
Bentonite (activated) is a drill lubricant, reduces torque and helps to harden walls of drilling holes; filling cracks, inner cavities when drilling bored piles – barrete piles and oil drilling. Characteristics of bentonite is the formation of mud layer to protect the wall surface of drilling holes, creating stability for pit walls, the effect of using bentonite method is to prevent the settling of humus through the time of public hole bottom submit. When filling bentonite solution into bore hole, it is necessary to ensure that Bentonite solution is always at a level of 1 to 2m higher than the underground water level to create pressure for the bentonite solution to penetrate into the wall around the hole. Bentonite powder when mixed with water will form a solution that helps to maintain a pit.
BENTONITE for AGRICULTURE
Bentonite is popularly used in animal feed processing, helps to absorb toxins and creates adhesion in binder with a much cheaper price than other adhesives.
Bentonite is also used to process microbiological fertilizers, organic fertilizers or mineral fertilizers.
In Vietnam, benonite mines are scattered in localities such as Di Linh (Lam Dong) and Co Dinh (Thanh Hoa). Up to now, bentonite has mostly been used as a raw material for drilling fluid production for oil and gas industry, bored pile drilling … as a waterproofing agent for hydropower reservoirs and golf courses.
